Gunshots were reportedly fired in a residential area of Brixham and police have seized a number of weapons.
Police were called to Higher Copythorne on Monday evening after reports of gunfire being heard.
At least five police cars were spotted in the area, and a number of guns were seized from a property after officers spoke to a man believed to be responsible.
A police spokesperson said: “Police were called just before 5pm on Monday 17 June to Higher Copythorne in Brixham following reports of gunfire being heard in the area.
“Units attended a residential property in the area and spoke to the man believed to be responsible.
“A search was undertaken and a number of firearms were located within the property; due to the owner’s firearms certificate no longer being valid, these were seized by officers at the scene.
“Enquiries continue in relation to any possible criminal matters relating to this incident.”
